The Role
The Compliance Officer works within a small team undertaking compliance activities on the Defence maritime community. They work with a wide range of stakeholders across the Defence maritime community and contribute to the effective and efficient application of outcome-focused, goal-based regulation of the Defence Seaworthiness Management System.

The responsibilities of a Compliance Officer include:
Performing analysis of assurance reports and relevant artefacts to support the independent and objective assessment of the state of compliance.
Participating in stakeholder engagement activities.
Supporting the delivery of regulatory outcomes for Defence maritime capability.
Supporting the planning and scheduling of assurance and compliance activities.

About our Team
The Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator (ODSwR) is an independent Defence regulator. The ODSwR is tasked with managing the Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSwMS), a Defence-wide maritime risk management system. It does this through:

Scanning the maritime environment and advocating on behalf of Defence.
Providing a regulatory framework to manage maritime risk.
Assuring maritime risks are proactively considered and controlled.
Monitoring trends across the Defence Enterprise.
Providing support to the Defence maritime community through education and advice.

Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:
Ability to undertake research and analyse information.
Demonstrated experience in assisting with planning and performing assurance and/or compliance activities.
Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise own workload to meet compliance business outcomes.
Excellent verbal communication skills demonstrating ability to effectively engage internal and external stakeholders, and influence the outcome of negotiations.
Strong written communication skills with the ability to assist with developing compliance obligations, regulations, policies, procedures, executive briefs and reports.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members to achieve organisational outcomes.
