How will I help?

The Senior Finance Business Analyst is the key liaison point between finance, the program / project, business stakeholders, testing teams, technology and other key implementation groups and ensures that finance / business needs are captured, understood to produce outcomes that meet the needs of both finance and the business.

You will work closely with the program / project manager, project / stream leads and SMEs across the project and produce high quality, well written documents, following Westpac project methodologies such as business / finance requirements documents, business process specifications (BPS) and standard operating procedures (SOP) for all associated projects.

Main Responsibilities Include

  • Identify stakeholders and develop and maintain collaborative working relations.
  • Ensure that the project meets the needs of the customer and business and is aligned to the overall strategy by working to ensure the definition, elicitation, prioritisation and validation of requirements and design of business processes to meet the needs of the organisation and defining with the SME's the ‘As Is’ and ‘To Be’ processes
  • Key input into the completion of the finance requirements, business process specifications and/or system functional / non-functional specifications that will drive the desired change to business process, system enhancement / development activities Working closely with Technology to ensure our requirements are built as specified.
  • Reviewing and revising documentation considering any new information and/or changes to initial assumptions.
  • Support testing, training, and implementation activities to ensure the successful delivery of the overall business and technology solutions.
  • Understand and adhere to enterprise methodologies and processes such as the Project Execution Framework (PEFm) and Requirements Development Framework (RDF) as well as Agile methodologies
  • Ensure that risks (project and operations) are identified in accordance with set risk frameworks (Refer Operational Risk in Projects (ORiP)), prepare business impact and risk assessments for the proposed change and/or recommended business solution which mitigates the risks.
  • Ensure finance related projects risks, issues and dependencies are managed Project planning
  • Develop project plans for finance related activities and keep track of finance deliverables, ensuring they are delivered on time and within cost.

Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
  • A degree in Finance/Accounting is essential
  • CA or CPA qualifications are desirable but not required for the role
  • Experience in Financial Services
  • Minimum 5 years' work experience in a business analyst role working within medium to large projects
  • Prior experience in finance / accounting functions with exposure to financial, management and process change.
  • Good presentation skills both written and spoken combined with the ability to present finance and business information in workshops with support from the lead business analysts / project manager the ability to influence others.
  • Exposure to Agile project delivery and tools (eg Jira, Confluence) would be helpful
  • Strong analytical, organisational and time management skills
