As the Risk Analyst within our Individual Life (IL) business, your role will be a delivery role which will assist with risk and control assessment across IL.

You will be responsible for contributing to initiatives within the IL business risk function with a strong focus on executing the risk management framework. In addition, you will contribute to the analysis and implementation of various identified risk & compliance initiatives.

You will also be involved in supporting the business to satisfy their responsibilities in complying with internal policy frameworks as well as helping the business to use the frameworks to better achieve their business goals. You may also act as an individual contributor using a practical level of Risk Management and/or Compliance knowledge and a basic understanding of how the management (Line 1) Risk function services the business.

What will you be responsible for?

Control Improvement Initiatives

Conducting analysis of IL operational and compliance risk initiatives under supervision and against pre-set criteria

Assisting in formulating corrective strategies and implementation plans for key corrective actions and preventative controls.

Assisting IL team members in identifying the potential risks and compliance issues associated with their day-to-day business goals.

Delivering timely Risk Management and/or Compliance analysis and liaise with key stakeholders including the Risk Office to enable the IL business to be commercially successful and fully compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.

Supporting the IL business to develop adequate process control consideration and implementation across the business.

What are we looking for?

Strong analytical skills

Effective influencing and negotiation skills

Adept at problem solving

Familiarity with the relevant Business Unit and TAL-wide procedures, policies and guidelines

Experience owning a process to be able to independently manage a work stream

Familiarity with the relevant regulatory and legal compliance requirements (e.g. APRA/Life Act) of a Life Insurance Company

Computer literacy and a good knowledge of relevant software

Excellent written and verbal skills in order to articulate technical issues associated to work area

Knowledge of relevant TAL Business Unit administrative systems will be highly regarded.
