Senior Financial Crime Analyst

We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join the Transaction Monitoring and Customers Risk Analytics team to help support, maintain and enhance existing SAS scripts and systems for the effective detection of Financial Crime.

you deliver enhancements to the Transaction Monitoring system through data and advanced analytics. You will be responsible for developing specific data and analytical solutions to meet Financial Crime Risk typologies and risks.

How will I help?

  • Identify the data needs for analytics, develop SAS scripts, and implement automated routines to transform and analyze data.
  • Extract, validate, transform, and load data from multiple sources for analytics.
  • Pro-actively manage data quality issues as they arise.
  • Maintain and enhance the Analytics infrastructure.
  • Utilize data warehouse and other data sources available in the group to develop accurate customer view and detection scenarios.
  • Conduct analytics for identifying patterns, characteristics for monitoring and creating new detection scenarios.
  • Utilize vendor detection systems, analyze the output of these systems, and propose solutions to optimize these detection systems.

What do I need?

The successful candidate will have a relevant background in data and analytic. This experience will have derived from roles ideally within either Banking or the wider Financial Services, for you to best understand the domain and be able to hit the ground running with Westpac.

You will have advanced programming skills in SAS as well as SQL, Teradata and Python experience will also be highly advantageous. You will have experience in Process automation and scheduling withing SAS server and understand Unix operating system.

Communication and stakeholder engagement skills are of second nature and you can develop and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the team, division and wider group.
