Our Opportunity

Joining an experienced team of audit professionals, we are currently looking for an Internal Audit Engagement Manager to lead and coordinate the execution of risk-based internal audit and advisory engagements across a breadth of Vanguard Australia business divisions and Vanguard entities in the APAC region. The Audit Engagement Manager will also play a key role in contributing their expertise to the implementation and operation of audit procedures.

In this hands-on role, strong relationships will be key as you work closely with the senior leaders across various Vanguard departments, leading the coordination and communication of engagement objectives clearly across the audit team and ensuring engagements are delivered effectively and meet the needs of the business.

What you will do

  • Oversee and lead the delivery of the audit and advisory engagements, ensuring the timely delivery of the highest quality work and value-add recommendations.

  • Provide sound advice around the adequacy of the control environment, control gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Lead audit engagements, preparing and delivering high quality client facing deliverables including audit kick off presentation, audit findings report, governance committee presentation).

  • Effectively communicate the status and results of assigned work to various levels of management, and where required, influencing management to act on recommendations to strengthen the control environment.

  • Leverage the audit team’s skill set and experience to drive collaboration and ensure work is completed accurately and timely.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with business management and risk partners (including legal, compliance, information security, fraud).

  • Participate, and at times lead department and team projects to effectively deliver on operational and strategic goals of the department.

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated experience with audit, risk or controls (i.e. operational audits, financial statement audits, internal audits, advisory/consulting, controls/compliance/legal) essential.

  • Working knowledge of the financial services industry and regulatory requirements.

  • Proven ability to deliver against deadlines with demonstrated experience leading and delivering multiple priorities and commitments to completion.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to facilitate discussion with senior business leaders and process owners, encouraging healthy debate and collaboration to reach desired outcomes.

Certifications we’re searching for

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business, commerce or related field.

  • Professional certification or advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CA, CPA) is a plus.

Specialisations that will make an impact

  • Technical Data analytics skills utilising SQL, Oracle, Tableau, R or Python will be an advantage.

  • Exposure to IT audits will be an advantage.
