What We Seek

Northern Trust Asset Management Australia is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Head of Client Relationships to play a key leadership role in the continued growth and development of Northern Trust Asset Management’s business in Australia and New Zealand. The Head of Client Relationship will play an instrumental role in reviewing, defining and implementing the client relationship and service strategy with a strong focus client partnerships, ultimately driving client satisfaction and retention.

This is an opportunity to operate in an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment, with the support of one of the world’s largest Asset Managers.

We are looking for a person with a successful track record of developing relationships with Asset Owners including Superannuation Funds and Institutional financial intermediaries, including proven expertise in providing client driven solutions. The person must have outstanding teamwork and communication skills. This role will report directly to Head of Asset Management, Australia and New Zealand.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the client service function with ultimate responsibility for client satisfaction and retention with a key focus on strategic partnerships.
  • Effectively manage and develop a high performing team to accomplish common goal of delivering excellent client service.
  • Develop a deep understanding of clients organisations and needs through relationship building and management.
  • Develop both tactical and strategic solutions for clients through clearly articulated, solution orientated dialogue.
  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with client contacts throughout all parts of the client organisation.
  • Be regarded as a trusted advisor to our clients helping the organisation to remain aware of long terms trends as well as shifts in tactics by investors in the region.
  • Work collaboratively in a dynamic environment with the broader Australasia team to drive business growth.

Your Knowledge/Skills
  • Bachelor Degree, Masters in Business Administration and/or CFA not a requirement but preferred.
  • 10 + years of demonstrated experience in client service to Institutional Asset Owners including Superannuation Funds and financial intermediaries in asset management.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams and individuals throughout various global locations across the organisation.
  • Exceptional collaborator and team minded professional.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and/or navigate through complexity and drive innovation.
  • Subject matter expertise in Superannuation Funds, Australian Unit Trusts and ideally knowledge of the New Zealand institutional market place.
  • Knowledge of all areas within the global investment management industry, including fixed income, quantitative active and passive equities.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills. Able to translate complex and/or technical concepts in an understandable manner to influence others at all levels of various organizations.
  • Highly organized/structured and able to effectively prioritize multiple demands.
  • Excellent logical and problem-solving skills.
