How will I help?

Global Reporting is responsible for the production and delivery of timely and accurate Regulatory reporting for both month and quarter end reporting periods. This consists of returns to Regulators in various jurisdictions but for this role will be limited to domestic reporting to APRA and ABS. The role maybe involved also in change projects impacting these returns.

The role will be a reviewer of some returns, and a preparer of others, so will need to be detailed and very hands on.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work on APRA, RBA and ABS returns and surveys for the bank
  • Ability to ask “why” when completing analysis and investigate, and not just write “what”. Ability to present this to senior management.
  • Work with all areas of the bank, various front line teams, BT, Risk, IT, Operations, Treasury, WIB, multiple Finance teams.
  • Coordinating multiple deadlines at month and quarter end across different stakeholders
  • Ensuring quality of returns going to stakeholders are high post detailed review/preparation.
  • Analyse, design and improve existing extraction, if possible. Call out for any weaknesses, inefficiencies, or control gaps you may see.
  • Liaise with Business units, Group Finance and offshore in country Finance/Regulatory Reporting departments to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements
  • Establish relationships with Business units & Finance teams across Sydney, India and offshore operations to achieve and maintain appropriate service levels. This role will work with almost all areas and brands within the Westpac group, front and back office teams due to the nature of the data with the Westpac Group Returns the Global Reporting team completes.


Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
  • Actively seeks information to gain knowledge of customers’ circumstances, problems, expectations and needs.
  • Implements effective ways to monitor/ evaluate customer concerns, issues and satisfaction
  • Overcomes obstacles and barriers - Takes personal accountability for the long and short term success of Westpac by removing barriers and overcoming obstacles to business opportunities.
  • Qualified tertiary qualifications in accounting or related field, 4 years post qualified experience and CA or CPA qualified
  • Financial Market products or banking industry background, regulatory / statutory reporting an advantage
  • Experience in Big 4 accounting firms an advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of MS Excel, MS Access and GL systems
  • Knowledge of SQL and macros an advantage.
