Data Engineering Solutions | Business Intelligence & Data Science, Chief Data Office, Enterprise Services (ES)

You will join the Chief Data Office (CDO) team and contribute towards our goal of realising a data-driven enterprise by making it simpler and easier to consume trusted data through enterprise-wide consumption patterns of Modelling, Insights, Reporting and Extracts using the latest tools, techniques and control environment.

We are a division comprised of engineers, business analysts, scrum masters, product and delivery specialists, project managers, service managers and a wide variety of data analysts and data scientists.

Together we will develop the Group’s data consumption strategy, transform production and protection of the enterprise’s data asset and mature data risk management with Data Management 2.0. We also strive to build a leading data and analytics culture, which will enable CBA to be the bank of tomorrow.

Do work that matters

As a senior member of the BIDS team, this role is responsible for leading, coaching and motivating an analytics function of 20. Additionally, this role will require the successful applicant to closely partner with Enterprise Services stakeholders to deliver insights and analytic solutions which allow ES to achieve its goals.

The Key Accountabilities Include
  • Mentoring a team of up to 20 analysts to further develop their technical knowledge within analytics and build their commercial/business acumen.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to become a trusted advisor and maximise the effectiveness of analytics across ES.
  • As a leader in the data engineering team you will be core to the group data strategy and partner with the data delivery team to leverage new tools for strategic data assets
  • Use commercial acumen to translate analytics into meaningful business insight which can be integrated into decision making and business strategy.
  • Develop and execute an analytics strategy to support the relevant business stakeholder
  • Identify scope and manage projects based on the required strategic outcome, available data and desired analytical approach.
  • Proactively explore and identify new sources of data to improve understanding of product and customer
  • Role model CBA vision and values by building a strong team culture that drives employee engagement
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct . The Code of Conduct sets the standards of behaviour, actions and decisions we expect from our people

We Are Interested In Hearing From People Who
  • Have extensive experience in analytics or relevant leadership roles
  • Have previous experience managing and supporting a complex stakeholder group
  • Have previous experience in proactively utilising analytics to drive business decision making
  • Have strong communication, stakeholder management, and workload prioritisation skills
  • Have the intellectual curiosity to learn a new business and find new ways to solve business problems
  • Have tertiary education in business, finance, economics, statistics, or science (desirable but not essential)
  • Have knowledge of Financial Services industry and/or Banking Operations (desirable but not essential)
  • Have a Risk Mindset – all Commonwealth Bank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks
