Job Description

How will I help?
You will join the Westpac Institutional Bank’s (WIB) Syndication team which is responsible for the origination, structuring, execution, and distribution of arranged and underwritten loans for WIB’s corporate customers. As a Senior Associate within this team, you will provide support and learn from senior Directors within the Syndication team to help originate and execute these Syndicated loans.

You will manage competing timelines and work closely and collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders in order to execute and distribute these transactions. You will also work closely with the Relationship Coverage, Project, Leveraged and Acquisition Finance teams to help underwrite and distribute their syndicated loans. You will develop a network and maintain relationships in the market to build market knowledge and understand market appetite to assist in assessing underwriting risk.

You will also:

  • Prepare client presentations and marketing materials, including pitch books, in relation to potential upcoming transactions
  • Assist in the preparation and negotiation of Term Sheets
  • Negotiate legal documentation with the client as part of a deal team and with assistance from legal counsel
  • Preparation of Syndication Materials including debt information memorandums, invitation letters and syndication strategies
  • Assisting in the bookrunning process including dealing with queries from external lenders and other Lead Arrangers

What do I need?
You will have some experience and an understanding of loan structuring and legal concepts and will have a solid understanding of corporate credit and the key credit drivers for banks. You will be able to identify priorities to achieve deadlines and will understand the importance of developing and maintaining a comprehensive market network.

  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
