Banking & Finance
Source: uWorkin

The Australian Risk Team focuses on challenging the status quo and revolutionising the risk management function within FCTG Australia. Since its creation, Australian Risk has successfully redesigned the risk management process, and continues to implement innovative tools which significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of risk management in the business.

The Australian Risk Leader will be an expert in identifying key business risks and developing and deploying effective risk management strategies to minimise those risks nationally. They will drive the strategic direction of the team and ensure that we understand and meet the needs of our stakeholders. Reporting to the GM of Finance, the Australian Risk Leader will lead and develop the Australian Risk team. They will be the driving force in ensuring the protection of FCTG’s assets and contributing to the ongoing success of the company.

The Australian Risk Team act as experts in assisting operational and finance leaders to own risk management within their business. To be successful, the Australian Risk Leader will have the ability to influence those leaders in balancing the competing priorities of strong internal control and operational efficiency.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify the strategic priorities for the Australian Risk team and ensure the optimal employment of the team’s resources to meet these priorities.
  • Work closely with the Operational Leaders, Finance GMs and Australian CFO to understand the risks in their business and develop and deploy strategies to address those risks.
  • Identify key risks to the business across all divisions and brands and minimise these through process improvement and effective internal controls. Internal controls must be balanced with the operational focus on making it easier for our consultants to sell travel.
  • Provide leadership and development to team members through effective 1-on-1s, training and career planning processes and maintaining oversight of their BAU and project work.
  • Analyse risk findings and issue effective reporting for Operational and Finance leaders. Highlight red flags that may pose risk to the business along with actions taken to mitigate these risks.
  • Enhance and maintain Australian Risk’s data driven continuous monitoring processes to target specific risk areas and identify exceptions for targeted risk reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and FCTG minimum standards for financial systems and processes.
  • Keep abreast of business transformations and take a proactive approach to the consideration of any risk implications so that Australian Risk can partner with the business to ensure appropriate risk response planning.
  • Assist in specific projects as and when required.
