Your Role
Our national team looks after our financial services clients, and we're now recruiting an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Sydney office with specialist knowledge and experience in financial services regulation.

Our Team
Our highly regarded Funds , Superannuation & Wealth Team sits within the broader Allens Corporate Practice. We work in a close-knit, growing and dynamic team, acting for some of Australia's leading banks, superannuation funds, insurers, fund managers, and financial services providers. We work on a broad range of transactional and advisory matters for our clients.

Your day
Allens has one of the leading financial services regulatory practices in Australia. We have extensive experience in all aspects of funds financial services law.

As a financial services regulatory lawyer within our Funds, Super & Wealth team, your role will include:

  • Advising leading Australian and global financial services businesses on establishing business in Australia, licensing, compliance and regulatory issues.
  • Advising financial product issuers on the design and distribution obligations regime, issuer duties and disclosure obligations.
  • Advising on distribution arrangements between financial product issuers and distributors.
  • Advising on transactions involving the sale and purchase or transfer of financial services businesses.

Your clients
Our Funds, Super & Wealth practice acts for many of Australia's largest banks, superannuation and investment funds, insurers, and other financial services providers.

You will have access to the firm's extensive client base to explore and develop new opportunities and deliver outstanding service. You will act for a wide range of clients, each with unique and challenging work environments. We mobilise quickly listen to client concerns and base your recommendations on what's most important to them.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience working in wealth and financial services regulation, ideally from a leading top tier, national or international firm, or an in-house team.
  • Specialisation in at least one core area of financial services regulation – such as banking, platforms, superannuation, insurance or advice, and an awareness of the broader financial services regulatory regime.
  • An understanding Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act – financial services and financial products, AFSL requirements, PDS and other disclosure requirements.
  • A desire to specialise in financial services regulation.
  • Strong analytical, communication and advice writing skills.
  • An ability to effectively manage larger matters.
  • A willingness to participate in business development activities, such as pitch documents, firm-wide pursuits, article writing, attending industry events and hosting seminars.
  • An ability to establish a professional profile and internal networks.
  • A willingness to develop others through mentoring and sharing experiences and networks.
  • A willingness to build an understanding of clients and develop effective working relationships.

Work pattern

This is a permanent opportunity for a Funds, Super & Wealth Lawyer, Associate or Senior Associate, with experience in financial services regulation.

Allens supports flexible work practices and we are interested in speaking to lawyers wanting to work either part‑time or full-time.
