Job Description

How will I help?

As a Senior Conduct Risk Analyst in Analytics and Information Services (AIS), you will support and advise our Risk and Compliance partners by providing in-depth analysis and actionable insights through the use of Westpac’s data and analytical assets.

Through this role, you will be able to strengthen Westpac’s information and analytical capability to provide our business partners with self-serve information, identify and effectively communicate detection and reporting of misconduct, malpractice and compliance breaches by employees. You will play a vital role in the mitigation of risk and the prevention of financial loss ensuring there is minimal effect on customers of Westpac.

Core Responsibilities Will Include –

  • Extracting and analysing data using data warehouse and database management software to conduct complex database queries and setting up automated processes for ETL.
  • Lead stakeholder discussions to understand the situation and requirements that enables a problem to be defined with clarity and precision.
  • Rapid Prototyping and knowledge of other Design Thinking practices will be highly regarded.
  • Building self-serve dashboards in Tableau/Excel as per requirements
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills to translate technical information/insights to non-technical audiences
  • Establish productive working relationships with the business and strategic partner colleagues from conduct monitoring teams, distribution and risk & compliance
  • Presenting and articulating the findings back to the stakeholders using visualisation tools and ensuring that learnings are incorporated into future initiatives
  • Proven analytical and commercial capacity to identify, plan and prioritise strategic improvement opportunities

What do I need?
  • Excellent skills in – SQL/Teradata/SAS and MS Applications
  • Strong dashboarding skills using Tableau or Qlik or Power BI
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to tell stories about data
  • Know-how of R or Python preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of various analytical and problem-solving techniques.
  • General banking industry and financial concepts knowledge (Preferred)
