About the role

Reporting directly to the QBANK Executive Team via the Chief Risk and Governance Officer (CRGO), this role provides specialist advice and input regarding the organisation’s approach to governance and strategic risk management.

Responsibilities of the position are wide and varied and include:

  • Working directly with risk owners to identify risks, map controls and develop assurance plans.
  • Working with the CRGO to provide insightful and relevant Board and Risk Committee reporting.
  • Leading the Management Risk and Compliance Committee.
  • Managing the Business Continuity Framework including designing tests to identify areas for improvement.
  • Driving continuous improvement in risk practices to support a positive risk culture.
  • Implementing efficiencies in risk management practices, particularly by championing our Enterprise Risk Management System (Protecht).
  • Developing and delivering internal training and supporting business units in applying QBANK’s risk management policies and practices

About you

You will be a mid-level Risk and Governance professional (3-5+ years) with your experience ideally gained in a retail banking environment.

You will have the ability to influence change via your outstanding ability to build and foster key relationships both internally and externally.

You will role model the benefits and importance of effective risk management.

As a collaborator and influencer, you will provide pragmatic and practical advice and guidance to the business, and have the confidence to constructively challenge decisions and issues.

You will have excellent reporting and analytical skills (both written and verbal).

Other required attributes:

  • University level qualifications in risk management, business, accounting, law or similar.
  • Experience in Protecht Enterprise Risk Management system or similar highly regarded.
  • Experience and understanding of the key risks for a mutual retail bank including credit, capital, liquidity/funding, interest rate, market and operational risks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and lead with integrity, authenticity and inclusiveness.
  • Demonstrated engagement and influencing skills across all levels of management with a capacity to facilitate change and uplift performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively challenge business decisions and activities that may materially affect the organisation’s risk profile.
