Your Mission

The Capability Area Lead will work closely with the Tech Area Lead, to build the right capability required to deliver on the Tribe’s customer outcomes. You are responsible for developing Chapter Leads and accountable for the wider uplift in Chapter members’ capabilities, as well as vendor partners to build a world class capability across the specialist Analyst and Engineering functions supporting the Tribe.

As a Capability Area Lead, you will bring domain knowledge or deep expertise on a specific mastery or craft and develop this expertise across your specialist Chapter groups. Capability Area Leads are about the ‘how’ and span across similar specialist Chapters within the Tribe with a focus on ensuring the right capability is delivered to achieve Tribe outcomes.

Capability Area Leads are leaders who care for and nurture the growth of their Chapters to ensure they are inspired by a sense of purpose and are continually building their mastery and autonomy. Unlike Chapter Leads, you will spend 100% of your capacity building capability, supporting and developing your people.


A Day in the Life … Everyday will be different but some of the key things you will do are:

  • Responsible for the personal development and performance reviews of Chapter Leads
  • Coaching and development planning on topic expertise and personal development by promoting a continuous development culture
  • Recognises and develops top-talent and proactively manages under-performance
  • Own the standards within area of expertise and ensure alignment with other similarly focussed Capability Area Leads across Tribes/Domains
  • Share insights and knowledge of own expertise with
  • Chapter Leads/members
  • Active role in expertise sharing across the organisation
  • Continuously seeks ways to grow own thinking and capability.
  • Has a vision for the expertise of the Chapter and monitors and drives capability development towards this
  • Contributes expertise to support the realisation of squad and tribe missions
  • Pushes the boundaries of expertise to innovate, test and learn and experiment
  • Continuously develops expertise and stays up-to-date with emerging trends, practices and information in area of expertise and more broadly
  • Works with Tech Area Lead to understand and plan for workforce capability needs, current and future

  • Ability to ask for and give feedback
