The Carbon Market Institute is seeking a Carbon Finance Advisor – Agri-business, to join a passionate and dedicated team working with Australian businesses leading the transition to net-zero emission by 2050.

Role description

The Carbon Finance Advisor – Agri-business role will support a critical CMI Market Readiness program around financial services sector and Agri-business carbon opportunities. The role will involve overseeing the program: undertaking research and analysis on carbon contracts and land valuations, producer/ supply chain pathways; preparing key guidance and education documents and reports; developing capacity-building collateral and programs; implementing outreach and building critical relationships; exploring innovative financial services and products; supporting the industry and related initiatives and developments.

Selection criteria

  • Significant project management experience, demonstrated over a variety of projects and programs relating to finance and agriculture, and carbon farming, including analysing and managing project risk, monitoring progress and driving deliverables.
  • Solid budget management and preparation of comprehensive reports and necessary documentation.
  • Successful relationship management support and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in developing technical documentation, standards and key industry resources.
  • Expertise in finance services and knowledge of climate and carbon issues and the non-profit sector. 

Skills & experience

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in finance, agri-business banking, carbon farming.
  • Tertiary-level relevant qualification in Finance, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Law, Sustainability or any climate change and carbon-related field.
  • Good technical understanding of subject matter.
  • Proven experience in project management, work plans, work schedules, budgets and deliverables.
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail, time management, multitasking and problem solving.
  • Experience in managing data (data collection, consolidation and reporting)
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written – across a variety of collateral, including report writing) and interpersonal skills.
