About the opportunity

We are looking for a relationship-focused Associate Finance Manager to join the Finance Services division in supporting clients within the University's faculties and schools spanning Science, Engineering and IT and Architecture, Design and Planning (FSEA).

As an Associate Finance Manager, you will be seamlessly delivering a full suite of financial services to an allocated client base within FSEA. In this role, you will invest significant effort towards holistically understanding your client groups in order to proactively deliver operational financial management and accounting services. Collaborating with other Financial Services staff, you will provide a consultative and integrated financial services offering. This position will see you take on a range of duties including, but not limited to;

  • supporting Senior Finance Managers and Finance Managers in the development of strategic annual plans which identify the current and future key issues and needs for the client portfolio
  • working closely with your client groups to identify, develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • performing complex analysis and drawing insights to support your client base with their strategic decision making
  • working on the development of portfolio activities/budgets and undertaking advanced accounting and management reporting using a variety of financial and non-financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • maintaining and championing compliance with Procurement and Finance policies and procedures across client groups.

  • proven ability to provide operational financial insights, sound financial management, decision support, advice and analysis to a varied client group
  • proactive engagement with key stakeholders in the client portfolio to support the implementation of strategic transformation and change initiatives and ensure the successful implementation and realisation of key outcomes
  • advanced analytical skills and experience working across large and complex data sets
  • competency in navigating across a complex (matrix reporting) enterprise
  • experience in interpreting, applying and integrating complex financial policies and procedures, external requirements and accounting standards.
