In recent years Promontory Australasia has completed a number of high-profile engagements with Australian financial institutions and due to a strong pipeline of work we are looking to expand our team with a highly skilled, adaptable and dependable individual to join the high performing Sydney office to assist in the completion of a number of current challenging projects.

As a member the Promontory Australasia team at IBM you will contribute to the firm's global efforts to provide clients with solutions to challenging strategic, risk management, and regulatory compliance issues.

  • Remediation Services – Independent assurance to regulators and firms over remediation programs
  • Compliance and Risk Management Advisory – Advice on risk governance and management policies and procedures
  • Regulatory Framework Advisory – Advising regulators on building regulatory frameworks
  • RegTech – Working with IBM to leverage their technology to develop cognitive/AI based compliance solutions
  • Regulatory Liaison Advisory – Helping our clients navigate relationships with Regulators
As a Senior Principal you will work with a multi-disciplinary team helping banks, wealth management businesses and other financial institutions solve regulatory and compliance problems, design or restructure operational processes and use technology to improve their effectiveness and profitability.

You will be responsible for managing projects – often those subject to regulatory enforcement actions – which require an assessment of a financial institution’s controls or remediation program to address risk management, conduct, governance, culture and accountability deficiencies.

There is an expectation that you will play an important role in developing our business within the risk assurance and advisory consulting domain – in addition to areas of growing regulatory focus where Promontory can provide thought leadership.

Roles And Responsibilities

As a Senior Principal you will demonstrate your ability to:
  • Interact effectively with Senior Management of clients and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage engagement teams and work with clients to deliver on project requirements.
  • Manage projects to schedule and meeting client expectations, adding value to clients.
  • Oversee project deliverables to high quality standards and deliver as an individual contributor where expected.
  • Manage conflicts and interactions with clients particularly where there are formal independence requirements.
  • Guide project team members with day-to-day activities, including prioritisation of project tasks.
  • Lead and manage day-to-day aspects of engagement activities including working with clients.
  • Influence and communicate clearly and effectively on complex matters to key stakeholders at all levels in both written and oral communications.
  • Escalate project execution risks and issues to Director and Managing Director as required.
To be successful in this role a candidate must possess:

Required

Professional And Technical Expertise
  • Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Law.
  • 8-10 years relevant work experience (Previous experience in consulting, banking, wealth management, accounting, compliance, auditing or regulatory risk management within a financial institution or regulator will be well regarded.
  • Knowledge of and relationships with key executives in financial institutions and/or regulators
  • Technical expertise and experience in compliance, risk management, corporate governance, accounting, or legal or regulatory issues, finance, lending, trading and/or other financial services core competencies.
  • Track record working in an unstructured environment where engagement leaders are expected to identify and develop innovative solutions to client challenges.
  • Superior writing and editing skills with the ability to construct well-founded, clear, and concise analyses and recommendations.
Preferred Professional And Technical Expertise

An MBA or advanced diploma of Financial Planning, Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Law
