About The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Group Financial Accountant to join the Financial Reporting and Control team, based in our Brisbane office (Newstead Gasworks) in a twelve month maximum term contract.

This position is within the Bank’s Group Finance division and is responsible for ensuring the Bank’s consolidated financial reporting requirements are met and that systems and controls are continually developed to ensure timely, efficient and accurate reporting to Executive management and the Board of Directors.

The role will primarily focus on the monthly and yearly financial accounting for the consolidated Group combined with the day to day operational requirements of the finance function.

This is an exciting time to join BOQ Group Finance as we continue to embed a new Target Operating Model with the aim to become the best Finance Team in the Australian Banking industry, through digitised service models and transactional task automation.

Duties Will Include
  • Assist in the Group’s month end process including reviewing the Group’s monthly P&L and balance sheet for accuracy and completeness
  • Working with other Finance areas and other departments to ensure the month end process is completed accurately and in line with the Group’s timetable
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations as allocated, ensuring outstanding items are cleared promptly
  • Challenging the business in relation to month end adjustments ensuring the general ledger integrity is maintained
  • Responsible for specific tasks for the Group’s Half Year and Full Year statutory reporting, as assigned
  • Responding to external audit queries for Group financial statements
  • Providing coverage for other Finance staff
  • Helping drive the wider Finance team’s pursuit of process excellence by improving the end to end process, standardisation and documentation for areas of accountability.
  • Working with external and internal auditors
  • Developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes for both the finance team and the Bank
About You

This is an excellent career opportunity for an individual with the below skills to join BOQ during a period of continued growth and transformation
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Previous banking experience preferred
  • CPA / ICAA qualified
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to use new software combined with a willingness to learn new skills such as Robotics Process Automation
  • A continuous improvement mindset and the drive to enhance the end to end process.
