Objectives of the Role

The purpose of the Senior Manager Risk and Compliance role is to work collaboratively across the Wealth value chain to embed an effective risk & compliance management process as well as enhancing the risk awareness culture. This role will lead the first line of defence risk team to implement and maintain best practice compliance management frameworks and processes across the Wealth value chain. In addition to the above this role will co-ordinate response to relevant regulator enquiries.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with key stakeholders to embed, monitor and review the risk & compliance frameworks and processes across the Wealth value chain
  • Provide advice to the Wealth function on matters pertaining to the external regulatory landscape and its impact on internal systems and processes and compliance
  • Provide strong subject matter expertise on the regulatory compliance environment, obligations, licences and key Projects
  • Support implementation of simplified strategy for the superannuation business, including highlighting changes to functions and activities aimed at reducing operational & regulatory risk
  • Responsible Manager accountability over relevant licence operations (AFSL)
  • Enhance tracking of key measures relating to risk appetite statement
  • Provide Compliance advice (as subject matter expert) to functional areas on various matters, risk assessment documents (e.g. Product Approval Process)
  • Co-ordinate responses to regulator enquiries e.g. APRA & ASIC in conjunction with relevant business leaders including leading some of the presentations
  • Develop and provide on-going monitoring of risk management approaches for all relevant Wealth arrangements with external providers
  • Establish and maintain an effective first line defence team focused on providing value add risk & compliance advice & support to the broader Wealth business

Key Job Requirements
  • Good understanding of regulatory environment, particularly relating to superannuation
  • Strong stakeholder skills – influence risk managed outcomes
  • Risk & compliance expertise gained in financial services sector
  • Market/regulator credibility
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field
  • RG146 (General advice Super and Investment products)
  • Capacity to hold a Responsible Manager Position
  • Knowledge of Distribution, Product and Marketing functions within Australian Regulatory environment (APRA, ASIC and ATO)
