The opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the Head of Risk will play an active role in the development and maintenance of the comprehensive risk framework and systems for the Trustee and Fund. You’ll work closely with the CRO to build a supportive and positive risk culture as well as apply an educational mindset in assisting the Fund in understanding and owning risk more broadly.

Whilst this is a management role, you’ll actively roll your sleeves up and contribute to managing the ongoing monitoring of controls, maintain the risk management framework and ensure ongoing compliance with SPS220 and any other legislative requirements are attended to proactively. 

What you’ll bring

  • Sound knowledge of and familiarity with Corporations Act – current and prospective, including sections relating to managed investments, Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act, APRA Prudential Standards, Privacy Act, Competition & Consumer Act, ASIC Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act and other statues and regulations pertinent to superannuation, insurance and financial services businesses and activities or be able to build the required knowledge quickly
  • Experience with Risk Management Frameworks and the management of risks in an organisation (including operational, investment, governance, strategic, external and outsourcing)
  • Understanding of APRA prudential requirements for superannuation funds in relation to risk management
  • Strong skills in communicating and presenting risk requirements
  • Tertiary studies/qualifications relevant to risk/RG146
  • Organisational skills – ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, have sound time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Proficient computer skills – ‘self-sufficiency’ for the development of written communications material. Experience with enterprise risk management systems preferred.
  • Well-developed and commercially focused problem solving and decision-making skills
