Mercer is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Perth office: Investment Consultant, Institutional Wealth

What can you expect?

As an Investment Consultant, you will lead on the delivery of a broad range strategic investment consulting projects for a variety of institutions spanning Insurance, Superannuation, Wealth and Endowments & Foundations.

Our Institutional Wealth business provides advice and solutions to some of world’s largest super funds and other institutional asset owners, designing and implementing investment programs that help our clients meet their long-term financial return and risk objectives. As one of the world’s largest investment consulting, multi-manager and actuarial firms, our global team of 1,200 professionals, including 120 investment manager researchers, provides our clients in-depth knowledge few others can match.

We will count on you to:

Contribute to the development of best practices, new applications, and improvements to methods and analytical techniques, and enhancing and expanding Mercer’s intellectual capital:

  • Apply subject-matter expertise, consulting skills, Mercer methodologies and professional judgment to client projects
  • Demonstrate intellectual leadership
  • Plan, design, resource and manage client projects and direct staff in executing the plan to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Identify and support new business opportunities and lead business development initiatives / proposals
  • Nurture key client relationships, identify opportunities to broaden or deepen these relationships
  • Demonstrate thought leadership through writing points of view, articles and speaking at conferences

What you need to have:

  • Relevant undergraduate qualification Team player; we rarely work alone
  • Proactive and curious - ask questions, solve problems, persist to see change through
  • Depth of expertise in the Institutional Wealth service offerings
  • Experience in delivering and developing investment services in corporate and / or consulting contexts; typically 8-10 years
  • Strong technical base across investments and / or actuarial
  • Analytical skills and experience using spreadsheets and databases for information analysis
  • Strong report writing skills, PowerPoint and Excel capabilities
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • Relevant post graduate and / or completed or working towards relevant professional qualification (CFA/ CIMA / FIAA / or similar)
  • Exposure to the insurance industry with an understanding of their differing investment needs
